How to replicate/export a non development mode ZenPack?

Hi Guys,

These are my initial steps into ZenPack debugging, but as I couldn't find an answer after searching the forums/documentation - maybe you could help?

I need to debug a problem in a client's ZenPack: let's call it ZenPacks.W.L.
I tried to export ZenPacks.W.L, but get the error:Only ZenPacks that have been installed in development mode can be exported.

Then I tried to create and export a ZenPack based on ZenPacks.W.L, but the structure of ZenPacks.W.L is not replicated, namely some files are missing in the new ZenPack, and it provides none of what ZenPacks.W.L provides.

Can you suggest how to replicate/export ZenPacks.W.L?

P.S.: @jcurry Jane: the original ZenPack was created by a client, not me. Many thanks for the second paragraph in your answer - it seems to outline the solution to the issue I posed.
